Sponsorship

The Sponsorship Scheme

Through this scheme we currently provide financial assistance to the children in five homes. They are as follows: -

  • Arobanam Boys Home - Kilinochchi
  • Mahadeva Ashram - Kilinochchi
  • Senthalir Illam - Mullaitivu
  • Arulaham Convent - Cheddikulam
  • Anpucholai Convent - Mullaitivu

Within the homes, the ages of these children range from 19 months to 16 years. These children have been displaced many times and suffer from malnutrition, lack of security, interrupted education and economic deprivation.

In our humble opinion, food, shelter, healthcare and education are fundamental rights of any child whether they are with their parents or not. Most of our children have lost either one or both parents. In some cases parents have abandoned their children. We feel no child should be called an orphan. We should take the place of their parents to help these innocent lives. This is the main reason why we have omitted the word orphan from our organisation altogether.

Our homes strive to ease the suffering of these children. The aim is to create well-rounded personalities, by providing good nutrition, proper education and a suitable environment for the mind and sprit to grow.

For the above-mentioned reasons the sponsorship scheme was developed and proved to be very successful.

Sponsoring a child cost only £15 per month, (i.e. under 40p a day) but, think of the difference you can make to a child’s life by giving such a small amount. You will be touching a child’s heart in the most profound way possible. We have more than 150 children waiting to be sponsored.

Please don’t wait. Complete a standing order form now. Furthermore if you fill our Gift Aid Declaration form we will receive 28p for every pound you donate from the Inland Revenue at no extra cost.

Those who live outside the UK can send donate £180/year/child to the above address, which is annual sponsorship cost equivalent to the annual sponsorship cost. £180/year/child to the above address.

After completing the standing order form and the gift aid declaration form, please send them to ACF-UK (see contacts page for contact details). Within six weeks you will receive your child’s photograph, family history and contact details from us.

You are free to communicate with your child however, we strongly recommend that you do not disclose your UK address in any letter to the child. The administrator of the home will endeavour to get the child to reply to your letter. In our experience such replies can be delayed. You are kindly requested not to send material gifts to your child. Cash gifts may be more practical as commodities can be purchased locally, cheaply and will be more appropriate to the child’s requirements. If you need any further details please do not hesitate to contact us.
